Humair Blaser Ducret Chevillon
The quartet of Daniel Humair, Samuel Blaser, Marc Ducret and Bruno Chevillon has recorded a new album for SONGS, tracked, mixed and mastered at La Buissonne in Pernes-les-Fontaines. Set for release in 2027 across two chapters, the album gathers a set of music composed by Humair, Blaser and Ducret, several tunes co-signed by Blaser and Humair, and a handful of classics reworked by the group, among them "St. James Infirmary" and Gershwin's "Here Come de Honey Man" from Porgy and Bess.
The record brings together four musicians who have shared the bandstand for years, with Ducret and Chevillon regulars alongside Humair in Blaser's working groups. The La Buissonne sessions produced enough material for two full records, and rather than compress the group's range into a single disc, SONGS will release the results as two chapters.

Nathalie Amstutz, Sonates et Partitas
Berlin-based harpist Nathalie Amstutz has recorded Sonates et Partitas for SONGS, an album that transplants nine sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti from harpsichord to harp and pairs them with Partita II, a solo harp work Oscar Strasnoy composed for her in 2023. The project will be released in 2027 on CD and digital.
Amstutz began the transcriptions during the pandemic, working her way through Scarlatti's roughly 550 keyboard sonatas to find the nine that translate to the harp's resonance and dynamic range, consulting baroque harpist Maximilian Erhardt on which of Scarlatti's ornaments could survive the crossing. Strasnoy — an Argentine-born composer, conductor and pianist now based in Berlin — built Partita II around musical cells lifted directly from those same sonatas: a three-movement "Hyper-Scarlatti" piece, fast–slow–fast, in which his own writing collides with, and dissolves back into, Scarlatti's eighteenth-century originals.

Russ Lossing Sextet
Parasol
Pianist Russ Lossing has recorded Parasol, a sextet session for SONGS that gathers three handpicked horn players — Samuel Blaser (trombone), Russ Johnson (trumpet), and Adam Kolker (bass clarinet, tenor saxophone) — around his longtime trio with bassist Mark Helias and drummer Billy Mintz. Recorded in a single session on September 16, 2025 by Paul Wickliffe at Skyline Underground in New Jersey, with Blaser serving as executive producer, the album will be released in December 2026 on CD and digital.
No arrangements were written in advance. The sextet worked from scores sent out ahead of time — some of the themes deliberately "tricky" — and built the rest from real-time listening and collective improvisation, with most of the album's twelve tracks landing on the first take. "It is open, and it grooves with lightness, always," writes Philippe Ochem in the liner notes. "Musical thought is at work — it questions, everyone seizes it, answers, comments, and creates connections."

Pierre Favre
Secret Stories.
Pierre Favre has recorded Secret Stories, a solo album for SONGS this past November in La Chaux-de-Fonds with producer Martin Ruch. The legendary drummer, an iconic figure in the Swiss jazz scene and a pioneer of improvised music, will release this project in 2026/2027 in CD, digital, and Atmos formats.
The title is no metaphor: each of the six pieces carries a story Favre has now put into words for the first time — the two drumsticks his brother handed him at a village dance that started everything, a lesson in rhythm he calls "the three in the two, the two in the three," a night in a Javanese village where the chief offered him a home for life, hearing Makaya Ntshoko play for the first time in a Munich club, the teachings of Big Sid Catlett absorbed from a 78 rpm record decades after the drummer's death, and a secret ceremony deep in the Brazilian jungle during a tour with Albert Mangelsdorff. "God gave me this talent," Favre recalls telling his mother as a boy, "not to sell it, but to develop it."
At 88 years old, this album represents both an artistic pinnacle and a pivotal moment in Favre's career — a chance to preserve and celebrate a sonic legacy, and now the stories behind it, that has influenced generations of musicians and jazz lovers in Switzerland and abroad.
